Child Welfare and Attendance

tiger pic

The goal of Child Welfare and Attendance is to assist schools and parents in achieving good attendance for their students.  Students with good attendance are most likely to be successful in their academic endeavors. The Iberville Parish School Board works in conjunction with the Sheriff's Department to enforce truancy laws of the State of Louisiana.

When a student misses school it is the obligation of the parent to send a note or doctor's excuse explaining the absence.  Please see the student handbook for full explanation of absences which may be excused.  A student in grades k-8 is truant after 5 unexcused days.  A student in high school is truant after 5 unexcused days in a semester.
