Gear Up State Conference 2013 T. Reed, T. Jones, A. Gilmore, and L. Swanson, all juniors at EI, participated in the LA GearUP State Conference. Thanks to Ms. Ragsdale, Ms. Beal, and Mr. Sanders for their efforts in supporting these very enthusiastic juniors class members. Ms. Ragdale reports that they truly enjoyed and contributed to all the events they took part in. Here are some pics of this fun and educational program from the GearUP conference.

Leap of Faith! Students at EI participated in a school pep rally in advance of the Phase 1 Leap Testing to begin April 19, 2013. Dr. Eskridge served as Cheerleader Extraordinaire as he emceed a student dancing contest, a math and ela free shot free-for-all, and the EI rendition of the Harlem Shake performed by the 6th grade class with Ms. Kinya Heard as lead shaker. Fun was had by all, but the message was serious: the state-mandated tests matter, and students who apply themselves will be victorious. The Reverend Hasten spoke to the student body, and Ms. Jordan, ela teacher, and Ms. Kinya Heard encouraged them through personal testimonials with their struggles and victories when they were students in school. Iberville Parish Physical Fitness Meet

East Iberville School and MSA-East Tax Center In its 6th year of service, East Iberville and MSA East are operating a free Tax Center at St. Gabriel Comunity Center. This program is supported by the efforts of E.I., Inc. and the Mayor's Office of St. Gabriel. Ms. Tracy Warren trains and certifies 9th through 12th grade students through the IRS designed and supported proram. Students are able to complet taxes from a simple to moderate level of dfficulty. Hours of Operation: Tuesday/Thursday 4-6 PM Every Saturday 9-Noon All tax services are done at the St. Gabriel Community Center. |
National Foreign Language Festival Ms. O'Neal's Spanish I and II classes hosted a National Forgeign Language Festival at East Iberville School Library, Tuesday, March 13, 2013. Students displayed their student-made books on different cultural language countries around the globe and a guest speaker spoke at the event. The festival featured foods from around the world, much of which was prepared by the students. Thank you, Ms. O'Neal, for exposing our students to the greater world around us.
