City of Plaquemine, LA
The community of Plaquemine
is older than the United States, and National Geographic has documented
Indian settlements in Plaquemine from well over 1,000 years ago. In
fact, the city takes it name from the Indian word for "Persimmon." The
city of Plaquemine is nestled between the Mississippi River and Bayou
Plaquemine. Among the many attractions visitors to Plaquemine enjoy
are; The Plaquemine Locks, the Iberville Museum, St. John the Evangelist
Catholic Church, the Waterfront Park, and a beautiful downtown district.
